During the week of September 23 – October 2, filmgoers in San Antonio, TX will unite with over 100,000 film lovers across the world to view and judge the work of the next generation of filmmakers. The immensely popular Manhattan Short Film Festival will return to URBAN-15 for two consecutive weekends (September 23-24 and September 30-October 1st) at 8pm, for a total of four screenings.
Manhattan Short’s unique and enduring feature is that it offers cinema goers a chance to become film critics, filling out a ballot after the screening that allows them to vote for Best Film and Best Actor. Votes will be sent to Manhattan Short HQ, and winners announced at ManhattanShort.com on Monday, October 3rd at 10am EST.
This year, Manhattan Short received a record breaking 844 short film entries from 52 countries, a testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of the short film genre. The Final Ten finalists hail from eight countries, with Australia and France represented by two films each. For the first time, all of the Final 10 short films will become Oscar-qualified, meaning they will become automatically eligible for an Academy Award nomination.
The ten finalist films include:
The Tunnel (Norway), Carousel (UK), Kaputt (Germany), Ella Got A Promotion? (USA) Hold On (The Netherlands), Bravoman (Russia), Overtime (Australia), Gorilla (France), I Am A Pencil (Australia), and The Last Journey of the Enigmatic Paul WR (France)
