Five neighborhoods. One creative community.
Southtown The Arts District comprises 5 neighborhoods: Collins Garden, King William, Lavaca, Lone Star and Roosevelt. Directly connected to downtown, these neighborhoods host San Antonio’s creative culture. Cutting edge bars and restaurants, innumerable artist studios, art complexes, museums, distilleries, breweries, architects and designers reside here. Southtown is home to First Friday and Second Saturday, the city’s longest running artwalks (20 years) and Southtown Arts Festival. These events are great opportunities to support our local art scene and businesses as well as meet people in the community.

The area includes two local historic districts and three national historic districts, as well as properties individually recognized for their historical significance. Lavaca | Lavaca is the oldest existing neighborhood in San Antonio. It is defined by its small 19th century vernacular houses built primarily by working class families beginning in the early 1870s. This was approximately the same time that affluent San Antonians were building much larger homes several blocks away in the King William Neighborhood. Lavaca
